“Bridgerton” and “Broadchurch” alum Jonathan Bailey, hot off the acclaim and potential Emmy consideration for his role in Showtime’s “Fellow Travelers,” is reportedly in early talks for a leading role in the next “Jurassic World” film at Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment.
The project is being dubbed “Jurassic City”, and if he signs on, Bailey would co-star with Scarlett Johansson in the film which hails from “The Creator,” “Godzilla” and “Rogue One” filmmaker Gareth Edwards.
Bailey has just been working with Universal on their two-film adaptation of the musical “Wicked”. His potential casting follows rumors of Dev Patel also being up for a major role in the film.
Production is rushing to get underway at Sky Studios Elstree in the UK this Summer and David Koepp, who penned Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park” and “The Lost World” films, has penned the script for this.
The project is expected to be something of a partial reboot of the franchise with none of the cast from either the “Jurassic Park” or “Jurassic World” films involved and events unfolding in the same continuity albeit years later.
Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producing the film which already has a July 2nd 2025 release date.
