Whilst its ratings weren’t the best for a “Star Wars” series, “Andor” made up for it in critical acclaim and awards nominations – not to mention the adoration of its fans.
So it’s no surprise that the show’s second and final season is highly anticipated amongst the fandom. Earlier today, creator/showrunner Tony Gilroy teased that the show is going to be just as epic in its second season.
Appearing at an event held by the Writers Guild of American East, Gilroy was there to receive the Ian McLellan Hunter Award for Career Achievement.
The guild itself had a member on the red carpet to interview incoming talent (via X) which is when Gilroy spoke about the show and says the series and its new season are one of the most ‘important’ things he’s ever worked on:
“I’ve been on ‘Andor’ for five years now. We’re finishing the second half. I’ve had a lot of fun over the years, but I don’t know whether I’ve ever done anything as important as these 24 hours of storytelling we’re doing now. I don’t know if it’s just cause it’s a thing I’m on, but I don’t think so. I’ve never had a chance to work this big before. It’s a pretty big deal for me.”
The second season of “Andor” is once again twelve hour-long episodes likes its predecessor, though this time we’ll see numerous time-jumps between the four story arcs to span events over four years as opposed to the first season which spanned one.
“Andor” wrapped its second season filming not too long ago and it’s expected to hit screens in early 2025. “Star Wars: The Acolyte” will have its two-episode premiere on June 4th.
