Tim Kring’s 2006 superhero drama series “Heroes” is set for a revival… again. Deadline reports that Kring is working on “Heroes: Eclipsed,” a new series set years after the events of the original series.
In the show, new evos are being awakened and discovering powers that will change their lives. Familiar villains and new enemies will attempt to suppress this next step in human evolution and this new group must save the world.
The project is being pitched to buyers the same week as a solar eclipse hit North America (an eclipse was a recurring element throughout the series).
It marks the second shot at reviving the series, the first being 2015’s limited series “Heroes Reborn” which saw actors Jack Coleman, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Masi Oka and Greg Grunberg return.
This version is envisioned as an ongoing series, and has been pitched to NBC along with streamers. It’s likely aiming to re-capture the magic that turned the show’s first season into a must-see cultural event at the time.
Subsequent seasons faltered both critically and ratings wise. Kring and Jordan Cerf are executive producing the new show for Universal Television.
