Ahead of CinemaCon next week, Disney has handed out theatrical release dates for several films, including its Summer 2026 slate.
First up, Jon Favreau’s “The Mandalorian & Grogu” has locked in a May 22nd 2026 release date lot – the first “Star Wars” film since ‘Rise of Skywalker’ will take the Memorial Day weekend slot.
The last “Star Wars” film to open on that weekend was “Solo: A Star Wars Story” back in 2018. No other films are slated for May 2026 yet aside from Disney’s own fifth “Avengers” movie on May 1st.
Disney/Lucasfilm also has an untitled “Star Wars” film slated for December 18th 2026 which is expected to be Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s “New Jedi Order” film centering on Daisy Ridley’s Rey.
The fifth “Toy Story” has been set for June 19th 2026, taking a slot already reserved for an untitled Pixar film. Disney has also pushed back the live-action “Moana” by a year – from June 27th 2025 to July 10th 2026.
Pulling back to dates in 2025, the Mouse Hosue has locked in an October 10th 2025 release for the Jared Leto-led “Tron: Ares,” whilst the Rami Malek-led spy thriller “The Amateur” has been delayed five months to April 11th 2025.
Finally, Searchlight has set the Amy Adams-led “Nighbitch” to launch December 6th this year.
