Emmy winner Julia Garner (“Ozark,” “Inventing Anna”) has been set to play the Silver Surfer in Marvel Studios’ upcoming “The Fantastic Four” film.
Garner will reportedly play Shalla-Bal, a version of Silver Surfer from the comics. The Silver Surfer in the comics is the silver-skinned herald of the planet devouring Galactus.
Anya Taylor-Joy was previously rumored for the role late last year, whilst that was a reach the reports of a female Silver Surfer are accurate and true to the comics as several women have served as heralds of Galactus.
Garner joins a cast that includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach is Ben Grimm (aka the Thing).
“WandaVision” and “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” producer Matt Shakman is directing Marvel’s “Fantastic Four” reboot that aims to shoot at Pinewood Studios in London this Summer ahead of a May 2025 release.
Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Eric Pearson and Ian Springer penned the script. Garner will next be seen in Blumhouse and Universal’s “Wolfman” filkm and the Paramount thriller “Apartment 7A”.
