Filmmaker Guy Ritchie is set to direct and executive produce a spin-off of the Showtime crime drama series “Ray Donovan” on the Paramount+ service.
Titled “The Donovans,” the new show is said to be “loosely based” on the original which followed Liev Schreiber as a professional Los Angeles ‘fixer’.
This shifts the action to Europe and focuses on a family, The Donovans, will see their fortunes and reputations at risk, odd alliances unfold, and betrayal around every corner.
They might be London’s most elite fixers today, the nature of their business means there is no guarantee what’s in store tomorrow.
Irish writer Ronan Bennett (“Top Boy”) will write all ten episodes with the aim of providing “massive thrills, entertainment and a huge rush of adrenaline for audiences” he says in a statement.
Richie, Bennett, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin and Ivan Atkinson executive produce. It marks Ritchie’s second foray into TV this year after Netflix’s upcoming “The Gentlemen” series based on his own film.
“The Donovans” will premiere on Paramount+ later this year.
