Civil War
Alex Garland’s $50 million budgeted action thriller “Civil War” will have its premiere at the South by Southwest film festival in mid-March. The Kirsten Dunst-led film, about a team of journalists who traverse a bitterly divided United States, will open in cinemas on April 12th.
The news comes as “Stranger Things” breakout Joseph Quinn and “May December” star Charles Melton have been cast in Garland’s next film – a new untitled war movie he’s co-directing with “Civil War” military supervisor Ray Mendoza. [Source: Variety]
Drop
Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes are teaming on the new fast-paced thriller “Drop” which hails from “Happy Death Day” and “Freaky” director Christopher Landon. Meghann Fahy will star in the film with details of the movie under wraps.
Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach penned the script, with Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller producing. Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes both produce “The Purge” franchise which has a sixth and final entry on the way. [Source: Deadline]
The Boys
Showrunner Eric Kripke has just offered a brief update on how the fourth season of Amazon’s “The Boys” is going in a post on X. He says finishing touches are going on the last two episodes with sound mixing, a handful of VFX shots and music being placed.
He adds: “Then @PrimeVideo dubs them into a kajillion languages for global release, which takes a few months. Then delivered hot & fresh to your door on June 13th.” [Source: X]
Foundation
Oscar winning “CODA” star Troy Kotsur has joined the third season of sci-fi epic “Foundation” on the Apple TV+ service. Kotsur will appear in the role of Preem Palver, leader of a planet of psychics. He joins returnees Lee Pace and Jared Harris in the sci-fi epic on which David S. Goyer serves as showrunner and executive producer. [Source: Variety
Grotesquerie
FX has premiered the teaser trailer for “Grotesquerie,” a newly announced horror series from “American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy. Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville will star in the series which will debut this Fall. Plot specifics are under wraps.
