It’s official, filming on James Gunn’s “Superman: Legacy” is set to get underway next week.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO David Zaslav confirmed the news during Friday’s fourth-quarter earnings call and seemed quite optimistic about it.
Zaslav added that the studio has “really been underperforming” of late, but they’re all “very optimistic” about this year and see “a lot of upside in the next two years.”
Gunnar Wiedenfels, Warner Bros. Discovery’s CFO, also acknowledged “real challenges across the industry on the superhero side” and noted how both “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” and “The Color Purple” were not great performers.
The discussion follows in the wake of Gunn posting the first picture of the full cast on Instagram yesterday. The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
“Superman: Legacy” opens in cinemas July 11th 2025, and is the first title in Gunn’s “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” initiative.
