A fifth season of Amazon Prime’s acclaimed superhero series “The Boys” may be in the works, according to a new listing on industry website Production List (via Collider).
If accurate, the listing indicates the next season of the series is scheduled to begin filming in two months with cameras to begin rolling in early April and running through until late August.
It’s a surprise as Prime Video hasn’t officially announced a renewal for a fifth season as yet, even the show’s already shot fourth season has yet to set a premiere date beyond sometime this year.
That said, filming on the fourth season concluded in early April 2023 and previously the production has generally seen gaps of around 11-14 months between the end of production on one season and the start of production on the next.
Thus the chances of Prime Video going ahead and secretly handing out a renewal seem fairly good. Things have no doubt been helped by the recent spin-off series “Gen V”, proving both a critical smash hit and equally popular – earning it a quick (and officially announced) second-season renewal.
Amazon previous renewed “The Boys” for a second season before the first episode of the first had aired, and so far its numbers have been consistently performing for the service.
