Along with the “Blade” talk on Friday, another Marvel-related rumor emerged over the holiday weekend. This one is tied to property that hasn’t come up in film reports before – “Midnight Sons”.
In the comics, “Midnight Sons” is a team of supernatural superheroes that includes Blade, Morbius and at least two versions of Ghost Rider. Other members have included Moon Knight, Doctor Strange, Man-Thing, Wolverine, Iron Fist, Wong and many more.
This weekend saw Daniel RPK and DCU Leaks both reporting (via ComicBookMovie) that a version of “Midnight Sons” is in the works at Marvel Studios with composer-turned-filmmaker Michael Giacchino attached to direct.
Giacchino previously directed the 2022 Disney+ special “Werewolf by Night,” so his attachment (if real) would make sense as multiple characters from that special have been a part of the Midnight Sons team.
In addition, “Moon Knight” star Oscar Isaac has reportedly been pushing for a “Midnight Sons” film since he joined the MCU and re-affirmed his desire to see it during an appearance at Middle Eastern Comic Con earlier this month.
Such a team-up project would likely stick to the MCU characters as opposed to any Sony Marvel characters. The outlets are also indicating Sony wants a fourth “Spider-Man” ready by the end of 2025.
