Following reports that filming in Prague and Poland on the third season of Apple TV+ sci-fi series “Foundation” had stalled due to issues with budgeting and physical production, it appears things are getting back on track.
Filming was slated to begin again earlier this month with some cast and crew having already convened for the shoot. Those people were told to return home until the issues were sorted out.
Now though, Deadline reports that cast and crew have been notified about the new start date, which will be March 6th.
The series filmed for several weeks in Spring 2023 before shutting down due to the strikes – around half of the third season is said to be in the can. The trade says the show’s budget has been “brought down,” though what impact that will have is unclear.
One key change relates to series co-developer/executive producer/showrunner David S. Goyer. Though he will complete his outstanding writing and directing services on already shot work, plans for him to direct multiple remaining episodes have been scrapped – the production will secure new directors for those episodes.
Adapted from Isaac Asimov’s pioneering book series, the galactic saga chronicles the journeys of four crucial individuals transcending space and time and ultimately determining the fate of humanity.
The new season will see The Mule (Mikael Persbrandt) take center stage while fan-favorites Bayta, Toran, Ebling, and Magnifico Giganticus all return in the wake of the shocking events of the second season finale.
Lee Pace, Jared Harris, Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann, Isabella Laughland, Kulvinder Ghir, Ella-Rae Smith, Holt McCallany, Rachel House, Nimrat Kaur, Ben Daniels and Dimitri Leonidas co-star in the series. David S. Goyer serves as showrunner and executive producer.
