Disney is continuing its live-action adaptations of animated classics with last year’s “The Little Mermaid” and “Peter Pan & Wendy” to soon be joined by “Snow White,” “Moana” and a prequel to “The Lion King”.
Meanwhile Guy Ritchie is working on a take on “Hercules,” Sarah Polley is doing a “Bambi” adaptation, and “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On” director Dean Fleischer Camp is doing a “Lilo and Stitch” film.
The latter was in production last year with set video from the shoot on location in Hawaii going online on social media this week.
Newcomer Maia Kealoha stars as Lilo in the film, acting opposite Chris Sanders who is expected to return as the voice of Stitch. The video, posted to TikTok, offers a first real look at the movie’s main characters.
Also onboard are Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Nani, Kaipot Dudoit as David Kawena, Zach Galifianakis as Jumba, Billy Magnussen as Pleakley, Amy Hill as Tutu, and Courtney B. Vance as Cobra Bubbles. Tia Carrere is also rumored to be voicing the new character Mrs. Kekoa.
Chris Kekaniokalani Bright wrote the script with Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich producing. The film currently does not have an official release date.
Head over to TikTok for the video.
