Vudu is dead – albeit in name only.
Nearly twenty years after it was founded back in 2007, the pioneering digital movie service is undergoing a rebranding and will now be known as ‘Fandango at Home’.
The shift is set to take place in the coming weeks. Retail giant Walmart purchased Vudu in 2010 before being purchased by NBCU-owned Fandango.
It marks a return for Fandango which phased out its own FandangoNow movie and TV storefront and replaced it with Vudu in 2021.
The aim is to align the products under one brand – reinforcing Fandango as “the destination for premium entertainment at home and at the theater” according to Fandango’s senior VP of streaming Cameron Douglas.
All movies and TV shows from Vudu will remain in the Fandango at Home Library, accounts won’t change beyond the option to link Fandango and Fandango at Home logins.
