Paramount+ is set to end its acclaimed darkly comedic supernatural series “Evil” after four seasons, but is ordering additional episodes to give it a proper send-off.
The series premiered in 2019 on CBS before shifting to Paramount+ for its second and third seasons – the latter of which aired Summer 2022. The fourth season has now set a May launch.
Filming on that fourth season started in December of that year and was forced to stop during the production of the season finale, the tenth of the new run, due to the strikes and a cast member having to take a leave of absence to attend to a family matter in May.
According to TV Line, Paramount+ has ordered four additional episodes which will be shot shortly in New York City and will be added to the season.
These will finish off the show’s over-arching storylines. Series co-creators/showrunners/executive producers Robert and Michelle King say in a statement:
“We want to thank Paramount+ for giving us four bonus episodes to end Evil in the world in style. We will miss this show and cast. In many ways it was a dream project, but sadly evil will outlast Evil. See you in May.”
Series star, in a tweet following the news, said: “We’re all super sad Paramount+ has decided season 4 is our last. Netflix u up? Care to snatch up the goods?”
Timed with the announcement of the May launch, Paramount+ has released a teaser trailer offering a first glimpse of footage from the new season:
