The sequel to Blumhouse “M3GAN,” originally set for January 17th 2025, has been pushed back four months to a new May 16th 2025 release date.
Original “M3GAN” stars Allison Williams (“Get Out”) and Violet McGraw (“The Haunting of Hill House”) will reprise their roles as Gemma and Cady respectively.
In addition, screenwriter Akela Cooper will also return for the sequel which will be produced by horror masters James Wan and Jason Blum via their now combined Atomic Monster and Blumhouse Productions labels.
Williams is also set to produce the sequel and it’s expected New Zealand filmmaker Gerard Johnstone (“Housebound”), who helmed the first film, will return for the follow-up.
“M3GAN” followed a prototype of a life-like doll which is programmed to be a child’s greatest companion. In one case however, it leads to a lot of bloodshed. Rated PG-13 and celebrated for its camp appeal, the movie generated $91 million globally from a $12 million budget.
Taking over the film’s abandoned January slot is a new film for Blumhouse’s line-up – the thriller “The Woman in the Yard” starring Danielle Deadwyler and hailing from “Orphan,” “Jungle Cruise” and “The Shallows” director Jaume Collet-Serra.
