Universal Pictures has premiered the minute-long Super Bowl commercial it is doing for the Ryan Gosling-led action feature “The Fall Guy,” inspired by the Lee Majors-led 1980s television series of the same name.
Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Stephanie Hsu, Winston Duke and Hannah Waddingham co-star in the film which hails from “Bullet Train” director David Leitch.
Gosling stars as Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who, having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health.
He is soon drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie goes missing, a film being directed by his ex Jody Moreno (Blunt).
While the film’s ruthless producer (Waddingham), maneuvers to keep the disappearance of star Tom Ryder (Taylor-Johnson) a secret from the studio and the media, Colt performs the film’s most outrageous stunts while trying (with limited success) to charm his way back into Jody’s good graces.
But as the mystery around the missing star deepens, Colt will find himself ensnared in a sinister, criminal plot that will push him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt.
Drew Pearce writes the film which Leitch and Kelly McCormick are producing. “The Fall Guy” opens in cinemas on March 1st.
