Christopher Nolan has won the top award of Best Theatrical Film Director for his work on “Oppenheimer” at this year’s 2024 Director’s Guild of America (DGA) Awards.

Nolan is expected to easily win the same honor at the 76th Academy Awards a month from now, with “Oppenheimer” also currently likely to win Best Picture.

Meanwhile, Celine Song took the honor of the First Time Theatrical Film Award for her work with the celebrated “Past Lives”. Mstyslav Chernov won the Documentary Award for their work on “20 Days in Mariupol”.

On the TV front, Peter Hoar took the top honor of best directing in a drama series for his work on HBO’s “The Last of Us” directing the famed third episode “Long, Long Time”.

Christopher Storer won the best directing in a comedy series for “The Bear” second season’s cameo-packed sixth episode “Fishes”.

Finally, Sarah Adina Smith took the best directing in a mini-series/telemovie for an episode of Apple’s “Lessons in Chemistry”.
