Towards 2023’s end came reports that “The Last of Us” and “The Mandalorian” star Pedro Pascal was in talks to portray Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in filmmaker Matt Shakman’s “Fantastic Four” film at Marvel Studios.
Marvel has yet to officially comment on the casting, but unlike many superhero casting stories generally spread online, this one seemed fairly legit.
Earlier this week, apparent secondary confirmation of Pascal’s casting was spotted in a listing on the SAG-AFTRA website – a listing that was quickly changed after the fact to remove any mention of “Fantastic 4”.
Now fuel has been added to the fire today as ComicBook.com reports that Shakman himself reportedly did a post on his Instagram stories sharing one of the news stories about that deleted Pascal SAG-AFTRA casting listing.
Cut to a few hours later and fans noticed late Thursday afternoon that Shakman’s entire Instagram page appears to have been deleted. Make of that what you will.
For now, no casting is officially set for the film which is gearing up for production later this year ahead of a Summer 2025 release.
