Zac Efron is set to star in dual roles in Jody Hill’s new comedy film “Famous” which has “Mr. Robot” creator Sam Esmail attached as producer.

Efron stars as Lance Dunkquist, a fame-hungry man who has one thing going for him: he looks exactly like Hollywood superstar James Jansen (also played by Efron).

Trying to use that coincidence to his advantage, Lance travels to Los Angeles determined to make it big – no matter what it takes. Efron is coming off rave reviews for his work in A24’s “The Iron Claw”.

“Famous” is being adapted from the novel of the same name by Blake Crouch, with Chad Hodge doing the screenplay. Esmail, himself celebrating recent success with Netflix’s “Leave the World Behind,” and Chad Hamilton will produce.

The project is being sold at the annual European Film Market which is getting underway. HIll previously helmed “The Foot Fist Way” and “The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter” along with HBO shows like “The Righteous Gemstones” and “Peacemaker”.
