Following the events. of last year’s “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning,” actress Rebecca Ferguson has spoken about her involvement in the future of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise.
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR “MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – DEAD RECKONING”
Ferguson first played Isla Faust in Christopher McQuarrie’s fifth film in the series ‘Rogue Nation’ and reprised the role for both ‘Fallout’ and last year’s previously titled ‘Dead Reckoning Part One’. The character was killed off partway through that film.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Ferguson was asked if she’d be willing to return to the franchise in some way. Seems she’s happy to move on:
“Well, I mean, sometimes those three-picture deals you have in Hollywood, they end, and actors have the possibility of saying no, and we were at that point. Mission is such a huge dedication, and I’ve done it now, and it’s fantastic. And it’s amazing, and McQ and Tom wrote this incredible character.
There’s just that much you can do with a character, I find, and I’m entitled to my own opinion on this too. I want her to go rogue. I’m interested in the dark side, I don’t want to be a team member, I’m not interested in that.
And I felt like that was where we were headed. It takes a long time to make Mission too. It is blood, sweat and tears doing those. Since I finished, I’ve done a TV show and two movies, and they’re still doing [the same] Mission. But, you never know.”
Indeed, the eighth film in the series is still in production and currently expected to arrive in May 2025. It presently doesn’t have a title.
The actress isn’t slowing down. She has her role in “Dune: Part Two” hitting cinemas on March 1st and is currently in production on a second season of Apple TV+ sci-fi series “Silo”.
