It has been just over two months since the news came that Pedro Pascal was in negotiations for one of the leading roles in the “Fantastic Four” film at Marvel Studios.
Marvel itself, however, has yet to confirm the casting – or any casting on the film for that matter – even with shooting slated to begin later this year.
Now, it appears the actor’s union SAG-AFTRA may have accidentally done it for all of us in its latest career profile on the beloved “Game of Thrones,” “The Last of Us” and “The Mandalorian” actor.
According to Coming Soon, a posting on the SAG-AFTRA Foundation website this morning seemed to confirm that Pascal has signed on to become Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in the film.
That posting appears to have since been adjusted with any mention of the film removed. It’s not clear if this was a mistake or why it was removed, but as its SAG-AFTRA who are very careful about proper accreditation – it is conspicuous.
Matt Shakman (“WandaVision”) is set to direct from a screenplay being rewritten by Josh Friedman based on a draft from Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
Pascal has no shortage of projects coming up with filming on HBO’s “The Last of Us” second season getting underway and earlier today Deadline reports he and Chris Evans are circling “Past Lives” director Celine Song’s new film “The Materialists” which also stars Dakota Johnson about a professional matchmaker in a love triangle with a broke actor-waiter and a wealthy man.
“Fantastic Four” is slated for release May 2nd 2025.
