Following rave reviews and awards nominations for his work on Netflix’s “May December,” former “Riverdale” actor Charles Melton has set his next project.
Melson is set to join an untitled war movie currently in the works at A24 which will be co-directed by Alex Garland (“Annihilation,” “Ex Machina”) and Ray Mendoza.
Garland most recently directed “Civil War” which opens in cinemas on April 12th. Mendoza served as the military supervisor for that film and now they’re working closer together on this new movie – the pair set to co-write and co-direct.
Further specifics of the film are under wraps, but it is said to be an ensemble piece with Melton the first bit of casting. Further additions are expected to follow shortly ahead of production gearing up later this year.
It was also known Melton had the option of multiple projects to pick from for his follow-up to the Todd Haynes film, and this emerged as the favourite in recent weeks.
Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich and Peter Rice will produce with A24 sert to handle the global release. Garland will likely offer further details in the coming weeks during press for “Civil War”.
