A member of the crew of the currently in production Marvel Studios series “Wonder Man” has died in an on-set accident. The crewman, a rigger, fell from the rafters on Tuesday at Radford Studios.
In an official statement, Marvel Studios says: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident.”
Filming on the Disney+ series began on April 5th last year but was shut down by the end of May due to the strikes. Production resumed on location in California last month, but filming was not taking place today.
It is unclear how much more work is due on the series, though shooting is said to be mostly complete.
“Shang-Chi” filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton is overseeing the series in which “Watchmen” and “Aquaman” star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays Simon Williams – a gifted engineer who gains superhuman abilities, including enhanced strength, speed, stamina, durability, reflexes, and agility.
Also starring is Demetrius Grosse as Simon’s brother Eric Williams (aka. the coma-inducing villain Grim Reaper), Ed Harris as Simon’s talent agent Neal Saroyan, and Sir Ben Kingsley reprising his role of washed-up actor Trevor Slattery.
