Netflix has confirmed that production has commenced on both the sixth and final season of “Cobra Kai,” and the second season of last year’s breakout hit “The Night Agent”.
The streamer released a video teasing behind-the-scenes footage from “Cobra Kai” which was originally aiming to begin shooting last year until the strikes paused production. With both strikes over, everyone’s back to work filming this final run of “The Karate Kid” spin-off.
The series’ fifth season was a massive hit, pulling in perfect critics scores and two billion minutes viewed on Netflix in the first full week after its launch – better numbers than multiple high-profile fantasy series.
Meanwhile a photo from the set of “The Night Agent” shows star Gabriel Basso back at work on a night shoot as Peter Sutherland in the series.
The first season was set primarily around Washington D.C. and filmed in Vancouver. Filming on the second season will take place primarily in New York with additional filming in Washington D.C. and in Thailand.
Whereas the first season was based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, the second season has no additional source material to pull from and so is going with an original story.
The first season ranked as the sixth most popular season of an English-language series on Netflix, the second is expected to get ten episodes which are aiming to be done and out before year’s end.
