Ariel Vromen (“The Iceman,” “The Angel”) has been set to direct a currently untitled picture set to have Kevin Costner as both producer and star.
Story and even genre details are under wraps, but the project is reportedly aiming for an early 2025 production start.
Vromen says in a statement to Deadline: “I could not be more honored to be reunited with my friend and collaborator, especially on Kevin’s longtime passion project.”
Vromen and Costner previously teamed on 2016’s “Criminal” which co-starred Gary Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones. Lionsgate is releasing Vromen’s new Tyrese-led film “1992” later this year.
The project follows Costner’s two-part historical Civil War epic “Horizon: An American Saga” which Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line will release this Summer.
Costner co-wrote, directed, produced, and stars in the films chronicling 15 years of pre-and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. The first part arrives June 28th, the second August 16th and marks Costner’s first directorial effort since 2003’s “Open Range”.
