Almost five years after the planned series was scrapped following production of the pilot episode, photos have emerged of actress Naomi Watts in make-up and costume on the set of HBO’s first go at a “Game of Thrones” spin-off.
Flora Moody, who served as the hair and makeup designer on said pilot, posted a look at the show through her social media channels – a look at what could have been.
Moody says in her post: “This is a chance to play with shape, proportion in the wig. To see how the makeup reads on film. To work together to find the character that portrays the director’s vision. Collaboration is KEY! This was an unaired Game of Thrones prequel that I shot 4 years ago with the wonderful Naomi Watts.”
Reports from a few years back indicate the network spent more than $30 million on the pilot for the show which never officially had a title.
It boasted S.J. Clarkson as director and Jane Goldman as showrunner with events taking place several millennia before “Game of Thrones” with the distant ancestors of the Starks and Lannisters and prior to House Targaryen’s arrival in Westeros.
The same day that the news broke of the pilot being scrapped came the news that HBO was giving a full series order to the prequel series “House of the Dragon” which aired its first season last year.
