Marking the one year anniversary of the announcement of the revamped DC Universe line-up, filmmaker and DC Studios co-head James Gunn has celebrated with a new post on Instagram.
In the post he says one year on after the slate announcement, episodes of the animated “Creature Commandos” are being finished to air this year, and “Superman Legacy” is about to start filming (in March).
Then he adds that “at least two more projects are gearing up to go in the next couple months,” confirming they’ll begin production before the year’s out. He adds that: “amazing scripts keep coming in, & incredible talent are being attached to new projects, planned & unplanned”.
In a subsequent response to a fan question on Threads asking if the strikes have shaken up their ‘Chapter One’ plans much, he says: “some things have shifted around – some projects now earlier, others later and other new projects are being developed”.
He re-affirms his original commitment a year ago they won’t put a film into production until they have a great script.
Finally, he was asked by another fan on Threads how much scree time Milly Alcock will have as Supergirl in “Superman: Legacy,” Gunn responded with “I never even said she was in the movie” – leaving open the possibility she won’t appear in that particular film.
So could the “Supergirl” film and the second season of Gunn’s “Peacemaker” be the two projects he’s talking about? We’ll have to wait and see.
