Geraldine Viswanathan (“Blockers,” “Miracle Workers”) will replace Emmy winner Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear,” “Bottoms”) in the cast of the “Thunderbolts” film at Marvel Studios.
Edebiri has had to exit the project due to scheduling after production was delayed due to the strikes last year.
The inclusion of Viswanathan marks the second strike-caused casting change following Steven Yeun’s exit and replacement with Lewis Pullman in the role due to a similar conflict.
Viswanathan joins a cast that includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.
Jake Schreier is set to direct with Kevin Feige producing the film about a group of Marvel villains who are sent on missions commissioned by the government.
“Thunderbolts” is gearing up to shoot shortly ahead of a mid-2025 release. Viswanathan will be seen later this month in cinemas in Ethan Coen’s “Drive Away Dolls”.
