The third episode of HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country” reached 2.7 million viewers on Sunday night in Live+Same Day results.
That’s up by 5% on the second episode and continues a rising number for the series as the second saw a jump of 28% from the series premiere on January 22nd.
In addition, the third episode aired in competition with the NFC championship game yet still managed to continue its climb. The numbers combine Nielsen’s linear viewer measurement and Max’s stream count.
On top of that the prior two episodes have seen growth in the time since airing with the first episode now up to 10.7 million viewers at the two-week mark and the second now up to 8 million.
So far the series is outpacing the most recent seasons of “Succession” and “The White Lotus”. The season’s shortened six-episode run will air its finale on February 18th.
Jodie Foster and Kali Reis star in the new season as two detectives investigate the disappearance of eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station in Ennis, Alaska. Finn Bennett, Fiona Shaw, Christopher Eccleston, Isabella Star LaBlanc and John Hawkes also star.
