We have our new Kara Zor-El.
Australian actress Milly Alcock, best known for her role as the young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” spin-off “House of the Dragon,” will play Supergirl on film for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Alcock landed the highly coveted role which is a part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe that will fully flourish in a live-action “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” film currently in the works.
Alcock beat out Emilia Jones (“CODA”) and Meg Donnelly (“The Winchesters”) for the role, both she and Donnelly reportedly screen tested recently for Gunn and several execs.
The casting is happening now as it’s expected the character will appear in Gunn’s about to shoot “Superman Legacy” in Georgia, though that hasn’t been confirmed in full as yet.
She is expected to appear in at least one other DC Universe film before her own solo movie which doesn’t have a director yet and will be based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series – offering a different take on the material.
