Amazon Prime Video’s new animated series “Hazbin Hotel” has set a major viewership record for the service.
The company has announced that the series has seen the largest global debut viewership for a new animated title on the streamer to date.
Whilst they haven’t revealed actual numbers, they have confirmed the series has beat out the likes of “Invincible” and “The Boys Presents: Diabolical” to take that record. The series also premiered to very positive reviews.
Created by Vivienne Medrano and produced by A24, the show began as a YouTube pilot in 2019 before finally premiering on Prime Video this month.
It revolves around the princess of Hell, Charlie Morningstar, as she opens the titular hotel as a way to redeem many of the realm’s souls to get into Heaven before the annual purge in which angels wipe out demons.
A second seaosn of the show is already in development but it’s not clear how far along that is at this point beyond social media postings by cast members this week indicating voice recording sessions are underway.
