The first trailer has been released for Dev Patel’s feature directorial debut movie “Monkey Man”. Jordan Peele is producing the action thriller which was originally going to Netflix but will now be getting a theatrical release via Universal Pictures on April 5th.
Patel plays Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club.
Night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite.
As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.
Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, Patel co-wrote the script with Paul Angunawela and John Collee.
He is joined on screen in the film by Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Sikandar Kher, Sobhita Dhulipala, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, and Makarand Deshpande.
Patel, Jomon Thomas, Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Christine Haebler, and Anjay Nagpal produce.
