Amazon has premiered the first trailer for its reimagining of the cult classic 1980s Patrick Swayze-led film “Road House”.
Filmmaker Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” “The Bourne Identity,” “Go”) directs this new version which follows a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.
Conor McGregor, Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery co-star.
Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry penned the script. The new version has seen its fair share of controversy as Liman, Gyllenhaal the like are reportedly upset that Amazon Studios is choosing to release the film straight to streaming and not theatrical.
Liman, who says the film is one of the highest-testing of his career, has gone so far as to say he intends to boycott the film’s premiere in protest.
Nonetheless, Amazon is proceeding with its streaming plans with the film to hit the service on March 21st.
