The 96th Academy Awards nominations were announced yesterday. Hosts Jack Quaid and Zazie Beetz revealed the list.

Oppenheimer is the big nomination champion here, with thirteen opportunities to win. Poor Things has eleven, Killers of the Flower Moon has ten, and Barbie has eight. Other favorites such as Maestro and Anatomy of a Fall also feature.

The lack of a nomination for Margot Robbie, while Ryan Gosling gets nominated as Ken, is bound to cause comments. Likewise the lack of a nod for Barbie director Greta Gerwig.

Of all of the awards that Hollywood chooses to congratulate itself with, the Oscars are by far the worst. From the red carpet fashion show sycophancy, through the overly long, always boring ceremony in the most anodyne and chaste of atmospheres, to the galactically terrible after parties, maybe they can let Will Smith back in to give us something approaching entertainment?

Anyway, here is the list.
