Chris Evans and Aubrey Plaza are set to star alongside Margaret Qualley in Ethan Coen’s “Honey Don’t” for Focus Features.
This marks the second film of a trilogy of pulpy lesbian comedies that hail from Coen who directs from a script written with wife Tricia Cooke.
The first of that trilogy is road-trip caper “Drive-Away Dolls” which opens next month. Thus much of the team behind that are back for this.
Story details are under wraps, but THR indicates it will be set in Bakersfield, California with Qually playing a private eye, Plaza a mystery woman, and Evans as the leader of a cult.
‘Dolls’ and this mark Coen’s first feature-length narrative features outside of work with his brother Joel Coen.
Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Coen, Cooke, and Robert Graf will produce. Filming is due to begin in late March in New Mexico with a likely 2025 release.
“Drive-Away Dolls,” which also stars Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, Colman Domingo, Pedro Pascal, Bill Camp and Matt Damon, hits cinemas on February 23rd.
