Netflix has announced an April 4th premiere and released the teaser trailer for its Andrew Scott-led psychological thriller limited series “Ripley”.
The project is a new eight-episode adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s first Tom Ripley novel “The Talented Mr. Ripley” – previously adapted into the famed 1999 film by Anthony Minghella.
“Fleabag,” “Sherlock” and “All of Us Strangers” star Andrew Scott plays Tom Ripley, a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York who is hired by a wealthy businessman to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son to return home.
Tom’s acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit. Dakota Fanning, Johnny Flynn, Elliot Sumner, Maurizio Lombardi and Margherita Buy also star.
Oscar winner Steven Zaillian (“The Night Of”) wrote and directed the entire first season in addition to serving as an executive producer. Garrett Basch, Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner, Sharon Levy, and Philipp Keel also executive produce.
Zaillian directs and executive produces all eight episodes. Garrett Basch, Clayton Townsend, Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner, Sharon Levy and Philipp Keel of Diogenes also executive produce. Scott will serve as a producer on the series.
