Millie Gibson is set to exit “Doctor Who,” the actress in her role of Ruby Sunday will leave the show after a single season.
Gibson, who was best known for “Coronation Street,” made her debut in December’s Christmas special alongside Ncuti Gatwa who plays the Fifteenth Doctor.
She will serve as the companion throughout the upcoming eight-episode fourteenth season of the show which kicks off in May on the BBC in the U.K. and Disney+ internationally.
“Bridgerton” alum Nicola Coughlan will be the major guest star of the 2024 Christmas special with Gibson reportedly not appearing in that episode.
“Andor,” “Hard Sun”” and “Jurassic World Dominion” actor Varada Sethu will play the new regular companion during next year’s fifteenth season which is currently shooting in Wales.
No other details have been revealed about her role, including her character name. Sethu will join Gatwa in the second season which is once again being handled by showrunner Russell T Davies who write and executive produces.
Gibson’s character is expected to appear in three episodes of the eight-episode second season, one of them being a standalone story fully wrapping up Ruby Sunday’s journey with the Doctor.
