Apple has canceled its costly and critically acclaimed musical comedy series “Schmigadoon” following a two-season run.
Series co-creator and showrunner Cinco Paul shared the news on social media today, saying the tech giant “will not be moving forward with season three”.
He adds that progress had already been made on the new run with the entire season, including 25 new songs, having already been written. However “we unfortunately won’t be making it. Such is life.”
The series launched in 2021 and starred the likes of Keegan-Michael Key, Cecily Strong, Ariana DeBose, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski, Martin Short, Aaron Tveit, Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page.
The axe is also swinging over at Max today where the Issa Rae-created scripted comedy series “Rap Sh!t” has been canceled after a two-season run.
The series follows a struggling rapper (Aida Osman) who works at a hotel. The second season wrapped airing just before Christmas and the show joins a number of cancellations at Max lately with both “Julia” and “Our Flag Means Death” getting chopped.
