Actor Marlon Wayans and filmmaker Justin Tipping (“Kicks”) have boarded the Jordan Peele-produced sports horror feature “Goat” at Universal Pictures.
The project is the untitled one that Peele’s Monkeypaw banner pulled from its planned September 2024 release a few weeks back.
The company also pulled the planned fourth directorial effort for Peele around the same time, both movies have yet to set new release dates.
Based on a pitch by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, the story centers on a promising young athlete and football player who is invited to train with a team’s retiring star.
As it’s a psychological thriller/horror tale, expect that training to turn sinister. The young athlete character is being sought via screen tests, with Wayans to play the retiring GOAT (Greatest of All Time).
Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper and Jamal Watson will produce.
