The teaser trailer has arrived for “The Gentlemen,” Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series spin-off of his 2019 crime caper comedy of the same name.
Theo James, Ray Winstone, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Giancarlo Esposito, Chanel Cresswell, Michael Vu, Max Beesley, Jasmine Blackborow, Harry Goodwins, Dar Salim, Pearce Quigley, Ruby Sear and Peter Serafinowicz star in the eight-part drama series.
The story is set in the world of the film but not starring the original characters, even as the legacy of Matthew McConaughey’s Mickey Pearson character plays a part in the overall concept.
The series Eddie Horniman (James) unexpectedly inherit his father’s sizable country estate – only to discover it’s part of a clandestine cannabis empire. Moreover, many unsavory characters from Britain’s criminal underworld want a piece of the operation.
Determined to extricate his family from their clutches, Eddie tries to play the gangsters at their own game. However, as he gets sucked into the world of criminality, he begins to find a taste for it.
Jones plays the estate’s groundskeeper, Scodalerio the drug empire’s business overseer, Ings as Eddie’s older brother Freddy, and Richardson as Eddie and Freddy’s mother.
Ritchie serves as creator, co-writer and executive producer and directs the first two episodes. Matthew Read co-writes and executive produces.
Charlie Hunnam, Jeremy Strong, Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell co-starred in the original film. The new “The Gentlemen” series is expected to premiere in March.
