Laurence Fishburne has joined the cast of Netflix’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s “The Witcher” novels, coming onboard the show’s fourth season.
The official Twitter account for The Witcher revealed that Fishburne will play the character of Regis, a “world-wise Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past”.
The character first appeared in the fifth book in the series “Baptism of Fire” and is mentioned in various video game tie-ins to the property.
Fishburne joins as his “Man of Steel” co-star Henry Cavill has exited the show as Geralt of Rivia. Liam Hemsworth is set to take over the Geralt role for the fourth season onwards.
Fishburne said in a statement: “I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of ‘The Witcher’”.
The series also stars Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Joey Batey as Jaskier. The series is created and executive produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who also serves as the showrunner.
Production on the fourth season begins in the Spring.
