“House of the Dragon” alum Milly Alcock, “Locke & Key” actress Emilia Jones and “The Winchesters” star Meg Donnelly are all said to be in the mix to test for Supergirl at DC Studios.
Deadline broke the list, and adds that there is still a chance the studio could make a straight offer to a star. However, indications are screen tests for actresses for the role will take place within the next month. DC Studios co-chief James Gunn is said to be “definitely part of the process”.
Whomever is hired for the role is expected to first make an appearance in Gunn’s soon to film “Superman: Legacy” before later starring in her own film “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”.
That solo film is expected to be heavily adapted from Tom King’s recent acclaimed miniseries of the same name and a ‘science fiction epic’. Ana Nogueira is writing the script, and the search for a director of the project is underway.
Donnelly has one slight advantage over the other two in that she already voices Supergirl in DC animated films like “Legion of Superheroes” and “Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One”.
Gunn is prepping “Superman: Legacy” to film in March with almost all of that movie’s casting locked in. It is set for a worldwide release on July 11th 2025.
