“30 Rock” creator and star Tina Fey is returning to television with a new eight-episode Netflix comedy series reimagining of Alan Alda’s 1981 film “The Four Seasons”.
Fellow “30 Rock” alums Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield co-created the series with Fey which will mark her first small screen starring role since “30 Rock” finished all the way back in January 2013.
Universal Television is producing the series for the streamer, which won the title after multiple bidders were pursuing it. Filming begins later this year.
The original film followed three couples who vacation together every season. Alda, Carol Burnett, Len Cariou, Sandy Dennis, Rita Moreno, Jack Weston and Bess Armstrong co-starred and the score was made up of classical music from Antonio Vivaldi.
Specifics of the storyline or characters of this new version are under wraps. Fey, Fisher and Wigfield will write and executive produce alongside David Miner, Eric Gurian and Jeff Richmond.
Fey, Universal Television and Netflix previously teamed on “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”. Fey is coming off a supporting role as famed Agatha Christie character Ariadne Oliver in Kenneth Branagh’s “A Haunting in Venice”.
