This year marks the 25th anniversary of a show that changed television forever – HBO’s “The Sopranos”.
Though David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks” is arguably the first example of prestige TV, “The Sopranos” is often considered the series that ushered in the ‘Golden Age of Television’.
Along with “The Wire,” “Oz,” “Deadwood” and “Sex and the City,” the show put HBO on the map as the place you want to launch a series.
Max has begun celebrations of this milestone anniversary today with a new trailer you can see below and a unique promotional tie-in with social media platform TikTok.
Said tie-in will see the network share 25-second recaps of every single episode of the series on the TikTok platform – the quickest binge of a long-running series you’re likely to get.
HBO is also releasing deleted scenes and doing “Sopranos”-themed restaurant pop-ups for fans in the coming weeks and months.
Celebrations will also include fan screenings at Alamo Drafthouse locations, and free access to episodes for non-subscribers to Max. Get ready for plenty more “Sopranos”-themed content throughout the year.
