Amazon’s Prime Video has officially handed out a series order for “Criminal,” a drama series based on the multi-Eisner Award-winning graphic novels by writer Ed Brubaker and illustrator Sean Phillips.
Edgar Award-winning crime fiction author Jordan Harper will co-showrun the series alongside Brubaker with the latter penning the pilot script.
Brubaker is one of the most celebrated comic writers ever with multiple Eisner and Harvey Awards for Best Writer. Harper has served as a consulting producer on a number of series including “Hightown,” “The Mentalist” and “Gotham”.
The project was first announced a year ago when Amazon MGM Studios opened a writer’s room early last year. Now that its got the green light, it is being put on a fast track at the streamer.
The series is said to be “an interlocking universe of crime stories” and “tells the interweaving saga of several generations of families tied together by the crimes and murders of the past.”
Brubaker and Harper executive produce alongside Phillips, Sarah Carbiener and Phillip Barnett.
