Multiple Emmy-winning “Ozark” breakout star Julia Garner will team up with Christopher Abbott for Leigh Whannell’s thriller “Wolf Man” at Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures.
Whannell, who also helmed 2020’s “The Invisible Man” which similarly adapted a classic Universal monster for the modern age, will helm the project which is being fast-tracked for an October 25th 2024 release.
Whannell was attached to the film several years ago but exited at the time when Gosling and his “Blue Valentine” helmer Derek Cianfrance came on board. They both left and it has now come back around to Whannell.
Garner will play a mother whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator, with Abbott playing the father. The two actors previously worked together over a decade ago in “Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene”.
Whannell, Corbett Tuck and “Dumb Money” duo Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo penned the script with Jason Blum producing. Gosling will retain an executive producer credit on the project.
Garner recently scored Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her work in the mini-series “Inventing Anna” and starred in the psychological thriller film “The Royal Hotel”. She’ll be seen later this year in the thriller “Apartment 7A” from Paramount Pictures.
