A filmmaker, an actor and a writer have teased some high-profile projects they’ve been attached to and could seemingly be set to shoot in the near future.
First up, filmmaker Michael Mann has confirmed to Variety that he plans to shoot the follow-up to his 1995 crime saga “Heat” this year.
Mann has reportedly been putting the final touches on the script for the adaptation of the “Heat 2” novel he co-wrote which serves as both a prequel and sequel to the original film.
Next, actress Emma Stone has finally offered a brief update on how Disney’s sequel to their live-action “Cruella” film is going. The “Poor Things” and the “Curse” actress tells Variety that “hopefully sooner, rather than later” shooting will begin.
Asked if she’s seen a script, she said: “There’s a work-in-progress kind of thing going on. Yeah, yeah. We’ll see… She’s a blast, so we’ll see.”
Then, “Killers of the Flower Moon” scribe Eric Roth has revealed to Indiewire that he’s been set to write “Minari” director Lee Isaac Chung’s next project which is dubbed a “small love story”.
That project, which will be Chung’s first film after the already shot and currently in post-production “Twisters,” will star Steven Yeun and will be produced by Bong Joon Ho. No further details for now though beyond it potentially filming this year.
Finally, a listing over at Production Weekly indicates filming of Noah Baumbach’s “Jay Kelly” is set to begin in New York this coming March. George Clooney and Adam Sandler lead the Netflix film dubbed a “funny and emotional coming-of-age story about adults.”
Baumbach is directing the film based on a screenplay he co-wrote with actress Emily Mortimer, the project marking his fourth film with the service.
