One of the biggest game bombs of the year is set to shut down its servers less than two months after its disastrous launch.
“The Day Before” is a multiplayer survival horror extraction shooter game developed by Fantastic and published by Mytona, and it sees players traversing the zombie-infested post-apocalyptic town of New Fortune City.
When first announced, the title became the most wishlisted game on Steam. But multiple delays, trademark disputes, accusations of false advertising, and more later meant the game didn’t arrive in stores until December 7th.
Then things got bad – overwhelmingly negative critical and user reviews slammed the game and developer Fntastic announced its closure just four days after the games release – citing the game’s failure financially meant it lacked the funds to continue.
In an update posted on Twitter today, publisher Mytona says the game will be retired and the servers will be turned off on January 22nd.
Mytona has reportedly been working in collaboration with Steam to facilitate refunds for all game purchasers. They add: “For any players that have not already had their purchase refunded, Steam will now proactively refund all remaining players.”
