Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for its sci-fi drama “Spaceman” starring Adam Sandler. The film is currently slated to hit the service on March 1st next year.
Six months into a solitary research mission to the edge of the solar system, an astronaut, Jakub (Sandler), realizes that the marriage he left behind might not be waiting for him when he returns to Earth.
Desperate to fix things with his wife, Lenka, he is helped by a mysterious creature from the beginning of time he finds hiding in the bowels of his ship. Hanušsworks with Jakub to make sense of what went wrong before it is too late.
The film is based on Jaroslav Kalfar’s 2017 novel “Spaceman of Bohemia” and is directed by Emmy-wining filmmaker Johan Renck (“Chernobyl”) from a screenplay written by Colby Day.
Renck has previously said his main aim with the film is to get the kind of performance out of Sandler we don’t often see, telling the streamer’s own Tudum service: “he may come across as funny and sweet and all that, he’s very intelligent, really smart, profound.”
Carey Mulligan, Kunal Nayyar, Lena Olin, with Isabella Rossellini and Paul Dano co-star. Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, Peter Kiernan, and Michael Parets produce whilst Renck, Ben Ormand and Barry Bernardi are executive producers.
