George Clooney and Adam Sandler are set to team up for a new untitled Netflix film from writer/director Noah Baumbach (“Marriage Story,” “The Squid and the Whale”).
The project is said to be a “funny and emotional coming-of-age film about adults”. The project marks the first time both movie stars have worked together.
Baumbach co-wrote the script with Emily Mortimer and will produce alongside Amy Pascal and David Heyman.
Baumbach has an exclusive deal with Netflix and previously helmed the Sandler-led “The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)” for the service. He most recently directed “White Noise” and co-wrote “Barbie” with partner Greta Gerwig.
Sandler is coming off a trio of Netflix films this year – “Murder Mystery 2,” “You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah” and “Leo”.
Clooney most recently appeared in “The Flash” and will soon have his directorial effort “Boys in the Boat” hitting screens at Christmas. He’ll re-team with Brad Pitt for “Wolfs” at Apple, and this week teased to Uproxx that a “great script” for another “Ocean’s” film is done and in the vein of Martin Brest’s 1979 film “Going In Style”. That project will be separate from the Margot Robbie-Ryan Gosling-led prequel film in the works.
